Unique eggs benedict on a gluten free vegetable fritter lightened with mint and greens. I really enjoyed how this combination allowed me to feel indulgent and yet not weighed down.

The atmosphere is certainly more upscale which can be great for a fancier brunch, but would be even better for an evening out.

Service was excellent. Staff was well educated about dietary restrictions, menu options, and willing to ask the kitchen for any clarification required.

There were only a handful of veg/GF options including the veg fritter egg benny and shakshouka, but if you’re happy with limited menu options, you’ll be satisfied with the excellent quality of food and unique flavours.

Given that this place opened up under a new name only recently, it’s a great spot to try something new in Edmonton if you’re looking to change it up – a rare occurrence for celiacs in the city.

One of my favourite cafés in Edmonton! Their gluten free treats include flourless PB&C cookies (pictured below) and tahini cookies. Both are very tasty and newly they are packaged individually to make them even more celiac friendly! Their coffee is also excellent – I’ve never been disappointed by one of their roasts. Plus there’s a nice new multiuse sitting area outside the alley door in addition to the park and farmers market across the street. Very instagramable cafe & surrounding area if you’re looking for a cute place to shoot. I was a regular at the old location and the staff were amazing! When I was hoping to get some gift cards for friends and family, they offered a special arrangement to make it happen despite not having physical cards. I have nothing but good things to say about Woodrack – one of Edmonton’s finest gems for sure.

The nut cream is thick & tasty! You won’t notice it’s vegan. Plus, a very Instagram worthy location. Gluten free options were basically unlimited. I’ll have to go back another time because they were so busy opening week that they were short on ingredients in the evening. The strawberry nut cream is next on my list!

Update: I went back and the strawberry nut cream was totally worth it!! Highly recommend any drink with that in it.

One of the best gluten free croissants I’ve ever had! It was very flaky and buttery at the same time. I would go out of my way to come back just to get one. Their sweet treats are also tasty and a hit amongst celiacs & gluten-eaters alike. The aesthetic of their desserts is also on point (see photos).

Divine, fully vegetarian eatery with a menu that is very celiac friendly. About 80% of dishes come gluten free without alteration or substitutes (beet dish pictured). A group of 4 of us walked in because we didn’t want to commit to the chef’s menu and instead shared multiple plates. My personal favourite was the salsify butter dish. The hostess was very kind and got us a table very quickly after we were initially told it would be about an hour’s wait at peak dinner time on a Saturday. We got a text to come back to the restaurant after just a few minutes. The service was great, apart from one small slip up of forgetting my drink until after the meal. They were apologetic and hasty in getting another one prepared. We were all blown away from the flavours and keen on returning to try the chef’s menu on a special occasion.

Beautiful restaurant, very instagram-worthy, but not the best gluten free options. Limited celiac-friendly menu options. Of note, I was very much looking forward to the poutine that was noted as gluten free on the website and menu, but when I tried to order it, was told that it is in fact not gluten free. Definitely disappointing. Also, if you sub for gluten-free bread, the portion ends up being much smaller (see photo) due to the size discrepancy between the breads and no additional food items. Their drinks however were very aesthetic, fun, and tasty!

Gluten-free granola is a highlight. This is the first totally safe açai bowl I’ve had in Canada. They use a coconut rather than oat base, so for all my oat-avoidant celiacs out there, this is a pleasant surprise. It’s definitely worth considering taking home a bag of this granola.

The predominant milk they use in their lattes is oat (gluten free), but alternatives are available. I’ve tried a couple of the mushroom lattes, and the Chana Charger is my favourite.

The lunch bowls are predominantly gluten free or can easily be adjusted to be so. The produce is always fresh, which allows natural flavours of the ingredients to really come through and make their dishes stand out.

The location on 104 St is very accessible from downtown, but if you drive, expect to pay a couple bucks for street parking.

With an order at the till and sit anywhere system, it is an accessible place to go on your own and/or get some work done. There is also plenty of space to go with a group or meet for coffee.

It was a bit pricey, $22 for my açai bowl and latte, but you definitely get what you pay for. And that’s what keeps me coming back!

Affogato flights were a rare delight!

We drove from downtown Vancouver just to experience this special treat and it was worth it. We were expecting there to be various coffee flavours to choose from for the flights, but in fact espresso (pictured) was only one flavour option, including London fog (pictured) matcha, ginger (pictured), lemon, mocha, and others to choose from for your affogato flavours. I suppose it means they aren’t true affogato but the variety of options made for a fun dessert.

I’d definitely recommend the affogato flight as a fun experience for a date. There is also the option to switch to alcoholic beverages thereafter if you’re having a good time.

Unfortunately, no gluten free food options apart from the ice cream in the flights.

Gluten free waffles & toast! And many other gluten free options. It was really nice to have so many choices at a brunch restaurant! Especially without compromising on the fresh ingredients and great taste that the gluten containing meals are known to have. Several gf+veg options also. I had the avocado toast which was delicious! Though, I will say that the gf bread sub left something to be desired in terms of portion size. Another drawback is that the gluten free hash browns are fried in duck fat so sadly not vegetarian. Overall though, great food. I’ll be going back to try the waffles!

Hidden gem with delicious coffee that comes with its own little chocolate! Only a couple gluten free options but this chocolate peanut butter cup (see photo) was divine. You can choose to sit in the decor shop or plant shop with a glass roof for some sunlight and some of the freshest air you’ll breathe surrounded by all the plants for sale. Perfect for a unique spot for a first date or meet up with old friends.
